Priča o nastanku šibenske kape počinje sa Simeunom, majkom slavnog srpskog pisca Sime Matavulja, koja je zajedno sa suprugom Stevanom pokrenula manufakturu za izradu dalmatinskih narodnih nošnji. Matavulji su kapu u početku izrađivali u tradicionalnoj crvenoj boji. No, prilikom jednog odlaska u Trst po materijal za njezinu izradu, njihov najstariji sin Đuro ne pronalazi tkaninu crvene boje, pa da se ne bi vratio praznih ruku, kupuje grubo narančasto sukno. Od tada kape izrađene u ovoj boji postale su toliko popularne među Šibenčanima da su do danas ostale simbol grada i toga kraja
U kazalištu je odigrao samo jednu glavnu ulogu, no baš ga je ona u najvećoj mjeri proslavila. Riječ je o monodrami „Moljac“ čiji je glavni protagonist Ljuba Moljac, samoproglašeni nogometni reprezentativac i patološki lažac. Ova je uloga među publikom bila toliko omiljena da je Miodrag Andrić ubrzo postao prepoznatljiv isključivo pod imenom Ljuba Moljac, koje je i sam objeručke prihvatio
Kružna osnova kape u crnoj boji simbolizira tugu i žaljenje nad srpskim gubicima u Kosovskom boju na Vidovdan 1389. godine. Gornji dio kape uvijek je crvene boje koja simbolizira krv prolivenu u borbi za očuvanje časti, slobode, vjere, zavičaja… Devet dugih pletenih resa od crne svile, kićanki, koje se nalaze s pozadinske strane kape povezuju se sa simbolikom devetorice Jugovića, a duljina kićanki iskazuje duljinu puta koji su Srbi morali prevaliti od Kosova do Like bježeći pred osmanlijskom opasnošću
