Media reports about an alleged “provocation” at the promotion of Vlaho Bukovac’s autobiography, organized by the Serbian Cultural Society Prosvjeta in Pula, misinterpret the nature of the event

Several posts on social media and news portals claim that the flower symbol on the poster for the exhibition “Serbian Woman, Heroine of the Great War” carries war-propagandistic meaning or represents a provocation.

According to historical sources, the Miroslav Gospel was commissioned by Miroslav, Prince of Hum, and written in the territory of present-day Montenegro. Claims by Slobodan Prosperov Novak that the manuscript originated near Ston and represents a “Croatian codex” are not supported by relevant historiographical or philological literature.

The claim that “For Home – Ready” is merely a variation of older military salutes is incorrect. Historical sources show that this rallying cry first appeared within the Ustaša movement and the Independent State of Croatia, not in the Austro-Hungarian period or earlier times.

The claim by Prof. Tado Jurić that Croats in the 19th century were twice as numerous as Serbs rests on a selective use of unreliable and methodologically questionable sources. When the first comparable censuses are taken into account, it becomes clear that the difference between Croats and Serbs was far smaller than double – amounting to only a few percentage points.

On HRT programs and in the public appearances of certain right-wing and revisionist figures, Jure Francetić’s role in NDH crimes is downplayed. However, available historiographical and archival sources clearly show that he was involved in the camp system, mass killings, and deportations.

Historical sources show that the greeting “For the Homeland – Ready” was coined by Ante Pavelić and served as the official salute of the Ustaša movement and the NDH regime.

Despite the claim made in an article in the „Dubrovački dnevnik“, historical data shows that the area of Yugoslavia had an important military, political, and strategic role in the outcome of World War II.

Ante Prkačin claimed that out of 165 generals in the first Yugoslavia, “one or two were Croats, none were Muslims, and all the rest were Serbs.” However, historical records indicate that there were over 500 generals, including at least 40 Croats and many members of other ethnic groups.

At a press conference, the Zagreb branch of HSLS commented on the unveiling of the relief of King Peter I in the Meštrović Pavilion, making a series of inaccurate claims about the history of the pavilion, the role of Ivan Meštrović, and the period of the king’s reign.
